We specialise in the letting and management of residential & commercial property, together with providing a bespoke block management service for blocks of flats and housing developments across the whole of the Yorkshire region. Having started as a traditional style estate agency, working from a spare room in our loft, we have listened to and grown with our clients; focusing on our strengths and within our 15 years trading experience have diversified and evolved into the successful and trusted property management and lettings agency that we are today.

Today, we manage over 250 rental properties for private landlords ranging from small terraced properties to large industrial units mainly in the Wakefield and Barnsley region, together with managing a number of blocks of flats and housing estates in York, Harrogate, Leeds, Halifax, Bingley and Goole as well as many in the Wakefield area.

We are property owners and landlords ourselves, having experienced first-hand both the benefits and pitfalls of owning, renting, refurbishing and maintaining both residential and commercial property.

We work alongside owners, tenants, developers and directors of management companies, together with a host of tried and tested tradesmen, contractors and specialists which allows the team at FSL to offer their clients a unique and tailored service.

Meet the Team

Nigel Christie MCIOB
Managing Director

Originally from a building and civil engineering background, Nigel established FSL Estate Agents in 2006 after having been let down by a local letting agent that he’d used to manage a rental property. From there he set out to establish a business that provided a passionate and professional approach and has seen the business develop into a recognised and respected property management and letting agency within the Yorkshire area. Nigel’s hands on approach and experience of all aspects of the property industry has allowed the business to offer a diverse range of services to our clients

Carley Watson
Lettings & Maintenance

Carley has been involved in the business from the start, originally standing in when required for holiday cover and busy periods; one of the disadvantages of working in a family business as you’re always on call. Eventually Carley took the leap and left her job with the NHS, joining FSL to work full time and has been a valued member of the team for over 10 years. Carley likes to get to know all of our clients and tenants on first name terms and provides the personal touch that generates positive reviews.

Kim Lumb
Accounts & Admin

Kim joined us 5 years ago on a part time basis and her role has grown into that of a highly valued full time member of the team, taking on the extra workload as the number of rental and block management clients has grown. Kim deals with the rental accounts for landlords as well as the service charge and ground rent administration for our block management clients. She will probably be the first one you speak to when calling our office and is always praised by our clients for her efficient and friendly manner. Kim was reluctant to have her photo taken so if you get the opportunity please ask her to reconsider!

David Martindale MRICS
Valuations

David joined the business in 2009, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) in 1990 and being recognised as one of the few remaining Chartered Surveyors operating at his level within the area. With nearly 40 years of valuation and surveying experience, David has undertaken all aspects of residential and commercial estate agency. Being based in Wakefield throughout this time, David has come to understand the local property market inside out. Whilst he has now retired from full time employment, David still finds time in between golfing and holidays in Spain to provide clients old and new with his expert knowledge of the property industry.

Laurraine Christie
Cleaning Services

In addition to being co-owner of the business, Laurraine undertakes the cleaning services to a number of our block managed properties, particularly those in the Wakefield area. This allows us to have regular contact with residents and provides far better direct feedback about any issues which probably wouldn’t otherwise be reported.
